Researchers timed how long employees spent reading messages from their CEOs. The CEOs of Heinz and General Electric wrote 400 words and employees spent two minutes reading—long enough to read the full message. Lloyd’s CEO wrote 800 words but employees only spent one minute reading it—they saw a wall of text and moved on.


Tip: If you want people to read your stuff, keep it short.
